As a caregiver on the H51 Colorectal Surgery Unit, you are provided invaluable experience caring for patients with complicated medical histories, complex dressings, innovative surgical procedures, pain modalities, and comprehensive nutritional support. One of the few nursing units in the world dedicated almost exclusively to the care of colorectal surgery patients, H51 caregivers have pioneered curative surgeries for ulcerative colitis and colon cancer.
A caregiver in this position works nights, 7:00PM—7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
Perform routine laboratory tests.
Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program
Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of patient care experience
