Cleveland Clinic Florida pediatricians provide comprehensive, compassionate children’s health care services focused on the health and well-being of our youngest patients. Our team is there throughout every stage of a child’s development, from infancy through early adulthood. By joining the Pediatrics team at St. Lucie West Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to these pediatric patients. Some of your daily responsibilities will include rooming intakes, med-well visits, vaccinations, in-baskets, answering the pharmacy line, hospital discharge follow-up documentation, and authorizations. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system. 

 

A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 9:30AM – 6:00PM, with rotating Saturday and on-call requirements. Start/end times may vary based on the needs of the department. 

 

St. Lucie West will be the primary work location, but floating to South MOB and Treasure Coast Pavilion (Jensen Beach) will be required, as needed. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients.  

  • Administer medication.  

  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation in medical records and files.  

  • Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.   

  • Implement pain management assessments and documentation.  

  • Recognizing changes in patients' status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians. 

  • Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.  

  • Follow Code Blue protocol.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program 

  • Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross 

  • Knowledge of infection control practices  

  • Experience with technology 

  • Computer literacy 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross 

  • One year of clinical experience 

Physical Requirements:

  • Essential Duties: This position requires knowledge of all aspects of patient care including assessing; planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the patients progress through the entire continuum of car in conjunction with the R.N. or physician.

  • Physical Duties: This position requires frequent walking, sitting, and standing.

  • Frequent talking and listening when giving instruction and explanations.

  • Frequent use of the phone; fax machines, and occasional use of the computer.

  • Work is heavy, constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

  • You will be stooping, pushing and pulling when moving patient into position for treatment; also you will be reaching, handling, feeling and manipulation of equipment into position.

  • Working Conditions: The majority of the time employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas.

  • The potential for exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens is significant.

  • Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • This position is high exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
