The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) – Substance Abuse provides direct therapeutic services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders. This position is responsible for conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, providing individual and group counseling, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. The LPC plays a key role in supporting clients' recovery journeys while ensuring services are trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally competent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and substance abuse evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that align with client needs and recovery goals.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to clients with substance use disorders.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with case managers, medical providers, peer support specialists, and other stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Refer to appropriate facilities for MAT as indicated.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to client progress reviews.
- Provide crisis intervention and develop safety plans as needed.
- Stay current with best practices and continuing education requirements related to substance abuse counseling and mental health care.
- Ensure all services are delivered in a manner that respects the dignity, rights, and cultural values of clients.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with substance use disorder clients preferred.
- Active and unrestricted LPC license in [State].
- Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling (e.g., CADC, LAC)
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Strong knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and recovery-oriented care.
- Skilled in therapeutic techniques such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
