JOB DESCRIPTION.
Second Baptist School is currently seeking a full-time LOWER SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE for the 2026-2027 school year.
- Position Title: Lower School Instructional Aide
- Reports To: Head of Lower School
- Work Calendar: Ten Months
JOB SUMMARY.
The lower school instructional aide will support the classroom teacher in small group and individualized instruction, planning, preparation of materials, and class supervision. Instructional aides also perform other daily duties as directed by the teacher, assistant heads of lower school and head of lower school.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES.
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Classroom
- Assist students during teacher-directed whole group, small group, and individualized instruction.
- Monitor and support students during independent work and cooperative learning activities.
- Provide student follow-up and review, after teacher-directed instruction.
- Prepare educational materials and perform clerical tasks associated with instructional activities.
- Provide, with guidance from the classroom teacher and student support services, accommodations as documented in student’s individualized accommodation plans.
- Assist in monitoring student behavior and providing positive reinforcement.
- Serve as a classroom substitute if needed.
- Have effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Maintain confidentiality concerning the educational, health and personal information of students.
- Demonstrate dependability and integrity.
Lower School Duties
- Assist with lunchroom, carpool and other duties as assigned.
- Serve as a contributing and active member of the lower school.
- Promote a culture that reflects the school’s mission and core values.
- Demonstrate the ability to be a team player with teachers and other staff members.
CANDIDATE SUMMARY.

- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in early childhood education.
- A strong Christian testimony and a calling to serve as a positive Christian role model to our students.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- A record of classroom experience.
- Support for school activities and school-wide initiatives, understanding the flexibility of this role to support various needs as they arise.
- Proficiency in technology and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with working knowledge of Google Workspace (i.e. Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)
- A responsible steward of the school’s resources and a personal commitment to support the school’s fundraising efforts as able.
Independent school teaching/coaching experience and prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and School are considered a plus.
