The Role:

Rakuten Kobo is looking for an experienced low code/no code engineer to lead our Low Code Development team within the Business Operations group. This role is pivotal in supporting the continuous improvement and automation of business processes across multiple departments.

As the Low Code Development Lead, you’ll work closely with our operations analysts to build and deploy low-code tools to automate processes, improve operational efficiency, and reduce manual toil. The role involves collecting requirements from stakeholders, creating and executing a prioritized plan to increase efficiency and productivity in business operations, and delivering robust low-code applications.

The ideal candidate will be a technical specialist with a proven track record of building and deploying innovative low-code tooling solutions to complex business problems. They will have a history of working collaboratively with stakeholders to come up with creative solutions and demonstrate a strong capability to lead projects that significantly improve business processes.

Scope of Role:

Responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining low-code solutions for improving business workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of low-code solutions to automate and enhance business processes across the company
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from various departments to identify opportunities for process improvements, collect requirements, and ensure solutions developed meet their needs and expectations
  • Develop and maintain a project roadmap that aligns with the company’s strategic objectives
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects and optimal resource allocation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from various departments to identify opportunities for process improvements and develop a strategic plan to address these using low-code platforms
  • Manage and mentor a low code developer and other supporting team members, fostering an innovative and efficient team environment
  • Oversee the management of low-code platforms, ensuring cost-efficient solutions that meet the company’s long-term goals
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in low/no-code technologies and industry trends to keep the team and solutions at the cutting edge
  • Act as a champion for low-code tooling within the organization, leading efforts to expand its use to new areas of the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years designing and developing low-code applications, preferably in the eCommerce or technical support domain.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing low-code solutions that have significantly improved business processes
  • Strong project management skills and experience with Agile methodologies
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across various levels of the organization
  • Very strong knowledge or experience with SQL, Python, JavaScript, GIT and general Web 2.0 techniques
  • Experience leading teams or mentoring junior developers using low-code solutions
  • Experience with UX/UI design
  • Experience provisioning, designing, constructing and maintaining cloud-based enterprise systems an asset
  • Specific experience with ReTool preferred
