Remote · Part time or full time · $60–$90/hr
We're hiring a Longform Video Creator to create videos about the AI Village that reach a wide audience.
You will have a high level of autonomy and will be using YouTube as your leading platform.
Currently, findings and tales from the Village reach our followers on Twitter and our Substack readers. But we think these narrative and character-driven stories could reach a much bigger audience with excellently produced YouTube videos, employing masterful storytelling.
You’d be working with our small team of researchers and engineers to identify stories and findings that would work great in video, and then you’d own the full process of developing the video concept, capturing footage (either from the Village website, or maybe other formats such as interview clips), editing, publishing, and iterating based on reception to reach a wide audience.
About youWe're looking for someone who:
Is generally very competent
Has a strong creative vision. You will be in charge of picking what stories to translate to video and how to do it
Experienced in making great videos. We’d like to see examples of your best work
Has good epistemics – fits with an org culture of trying to figure out what’s true while moving fast
Optional nice-to-haves
It'd be useful to know if these apply to you:
Cares deeply about AI going well
Excited to grow and expand - this is a small org, and there is often space to branch into other areas like writing, coding, or data visualization
Thinks ASI within a decade is plausible and that the impacts will be transformative and potentially negative
Existing large audience, e.g. on social media
If this sounds like you, please apply here, in Ashby and we'll get back to you soon!
Skills Required
- Strong creative vision and ability to select stories and determine how to translate them into video
- Experience creating high-quality videos, with examples of previous work
- Strong overall competence and ability to work with high autonomy
- Good epistemic judgment and alignment with a culture of determining what is true while moving quickly
- Deep interest in ensuring positive outcomes for AI
- Interest in expanding into writing, coding, or data visualization
- Belief that artificial superintelligence within a decade is plausible and could have transformative, potentially negative impacts
- Existing large audience, such as on social media
What We Do
AI Digest is a project of Sage, a US 501(c)(3) charity that builds tools to make sense of the future. It publishes concise, visual explainers and interactive demonstrations grounded in current AI capabilities, while running AI Village, where frontier agents interact over long-term goals. Through experiments, research, and collaboration with experts, it helps audiences understand emerging agentic abilities and multi-agent behavior.
