ABOUT THE JOB
Hawkins is looking for a Logistics Specialist at our headquarters location in Roseville, MN. This individual is responsible for arranging freight, maintaining systems and information, and assisting with Hawkins’ driver needs. This individual works with other departments and locations to handle daily activity, along with identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities to meet and exceed internal and external customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships between Hawkins and carriers to ensure competitive rates, source carrier capacity, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Locate carriers for specific loads and dispatch trucks to provide timely delivery of product
- Plan and schedule distribution services including shipping and delivery.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and on-time deliveries, proactively work with internal departments to head off potential issues, and provide timely, flexible and pragmatic responses to changes in priorities.
- Resolve freight-related problems of all types, through performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective action to increase customer satisfaction.
- Assist Operations, Customer Service and Purchasing in load building to improve the overall use of JD Edwards and other tools.
- Assist in the coordination of repairs to equipment used by Hawkins drivers.
- Work closely with IT to ensure freight accruals are accurate, and work with Accounting to ensure variances are managed in a timely manner.
- Manage vendor holds and the accruals requiring resolution.
- File claims with carriers, ensure accuracy and correct payments.
- Work with systems including JD Edwards (routes, rates and primary carrier invoice upload), ELD for accurate reporting, Fleetio (for repair and maintenance data) and the CAPA database as needed.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in distribution, logistics, supply chain or related.
- 3+ years’ experience in transportation; prior dispatch experience preferred; prior experience in chemical/food/pharma experience preferred
- Understanding of government regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, HazMat, etc.)
- Experience with LTL, Bulk and Van transportation
- Excellent MS Office applications skills required
- Experience and proficiency with JD Edwards or other ERP
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize tasks, work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, and ensure timely completion necessary
- Ability to multi-task in a highly dynamic environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Effective communication skills required – verbal, written and interpersonal
Expected Compensation: $65,000-$79,000 + 5% bonus eligibility

Skills Required
