Basic Job Functions:

  • Responsible for obtaining bids and sourcing carrier capacity for projects.

  • Negotiates pricing and delivery with key vendors and supports the qualifications of new suppliers.

  • Responsible for maintaining carrier scorecards and aligning allocation with high performers.

  • Leads carrier development exercises to improve service to both First Solar and external customers.

  • Maintains rates in Oracle Transportation Management (OTM).

  • Performs analysis on carrier spend and can speak to the data.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or supply chain discipline, or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Good working knowledge with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Supply Chain. Experience with MRP concepts and one or more ERP systems (Oracle or SAP preferred). Comfortable working with engineering databases and discussing specification changes with suppliers.

Technical:

  • Proven organizational skills – ability to prioritize.

  • Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Office or equivalent.

  • In depth knowledge of TMS concepts.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing suppliers and supplier relationships.

  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating cost reductions and terms and conditions.

  • Proven communications and interpersonal skills.

     

Accountabilities:

  • Some degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • Carrier performance.

  • Supplier relationships are maintained and improved.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the commercial relationship between First Solar and its carrier base.

  • Utilizing OTM and other input from internal stakeholders to determine what items capacity is needed to maintain contractual delivery obligations.

  • Responsible for negotiating pricing and other commercial terms with all carriers.

  • Independently investigates new providers for improved price, delivery, and quality.

  • Responsible for proposing and supporting the qualifications of new providers.

  • As required, expedite or de-expedite deliveries to meet changes in delivery or requirements, including working with the lager Logistics team to schedule and arrange timely and cost-effective deliveries.

     

  • Notify carriers of changes in project plans.

  • Analyze carrier spend and performance metrics.

  • Interfaces with all departments and suppliers.

  • Performs computer input.

  • Maintains effective communications levels and fosters team building.

  • Adheres to all First Solar internal processes and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • No direct reports.

Travel:

  • 5% - 10%

Estimated Salary Range:

  • $62,500.00- $89,000.00 Annually
