Job Title - Logistics Safety Manager

Job Summary
The role of a Logistics Safety Manager for Pratt Logistics, LLC is multifaceted and vital to the success of operation. A Regional Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that drivers are well trained, equipment is compliant, and all operations comply with local and federal regulations. By understanding the various aspects of fleet safety and utilizing the right tools and resources, the Logistics Regional Safety Manager can ensure a safe environment for everyone on the roadway, protecting Pratt’s body of staff, assets and reputation.
Responsibilities
· Enforce and manage policies in place
· Policy development and education
· Conduct periodic Safety inspections - facilities
· Regulatory compliance
· Safety Training-Quarterly driver meetings
· Monitoring Safety performance [all controlled, non-controlled, and mills]
· Vehicle maintenance inspections (level 2)
· Analyze and identify areas of improvement in accidents, inspections, and citations and report data to operations and the Director of Safety
· Risk Assessment - communicate challenges and trends to operations
· Educate Operations of any new compliance and DOT regulation changes
· Motive Expert that works with locations to ensure their drivers score is 90 or better
· Support Smith System Training - Certified Smith System Driver Trainer
· DataQ all non-preventable accidents and incorrect violations
· Maintain DOT Accident Register
· Facilitate DOT visits to plants
· DOT Roadside Inspections – coaching and development
· PPE audits – locations and drivers
· Ride along observation with drivers
· Manage technology proficiency regarding Motive, Sentix, TWM, and Foley.
· Participate in weekly new hire orientation
· Pilot programs and various technology (i.e. Motive, Drivewyze)
· Implement and manage Safety Committees for drivers and dispatchers
· Support other regions as well as the safety department staff when on vacations and out of office.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Working knowledge of CFR 29 and CFR 49:
· 5 years’ experience in the transportation industry in a safety role
· Knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations – DOT, DMV, FMCSA, and OSHA
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
· Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
· Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
· Special Projects - performs special projects or other duties as needed or assigned
· Travel - frequent travel required to locations in the region on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Occasional travel to other regions as needed.
· Training - help facilitate/evaluate training of new drivers, dispatchers, and logistic managers as needed.
· Coaching/Corrective Actions - works with site managers, HR, and dispatchers regarding any driver coaching or corrective actions that are needed.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
