JOB PURPOSE:

The Logistics Manager (LM) provides tactical and operational support to an assigned client book of business that ensures the solution outlined in each commercial agreement is delivered. The Logistics Manger will have responsibility for client retention for the assigned book of business and for partnering to provide strategic support for the Account Managers/Strategic Account Managers that own the commercial agreement for each client.  There may be a minimum revenue threshold for account assignments to Logistics Managers.

CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support the communication throughout the organization, including introduction and collaboration with cross-functional business partners to achieve targeted operational objectives and milestones as defined by the scope of each client’s commercial agreement.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers/Strategic Account Managers to drive internal and external communication that continues to advance (or expand) a three wide, three deep rich relationship with each assigned client.
  • Assist the Account Managers/Strategic Account Managers to identify opportunities for upsell business that are not included in the current scope of the clients’ commercial agreements.
  • Ownership of each assigned clients’ metrics delivery and client specific Key Performance Indicators.
  • Work with all internal cross functional teams to ensure the voice of the customer is clearly understood and facilitate continuous improvement plans directly with client and internal stakeholders.

SUPPORTING DUTIES TO THE CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaboration with Account Managers/Strategic Account Managers on the execution of reports, project trackers, and business alignment meetings that will highlight progress towards defined business goals of the assigned clients.
  • As directed, execute the tactical responsibilities such as carrier operations, remediation of day-to-day issues, invoicing, etc. with appropriate supporting cross-functional business partners.
  • As directed, own the ad-hoc analysis to include mode specific spend and shipping volumes, transit time analysis and mode comparison analysis.
  • Provide monthly metrics analysis that supports recommendations that drive continuous improvement initiatives for the client regarding cost and efficiency, while remaining aligned with the operational requirements/needs of the client.
  • Provide support for client and internal stakeholders for requests for pricing/contracted lane rates, etc.
  • Other client requests as necessary.

IDEAL CANDIDATE MAY POSSESS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar field (or equivalent experience.)
  • 3-5 years of experience with the Transportation industry.
  • Strong technical skills, specifically with Microsoft suite, (Heavy Excel usage) Transportation Management Systems, Optimization Engines, Salesforce.com and Reporting/BI Tools.
  • Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Eagerly accept new challenges – Accountability.
  • Self-managed and motivated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee is required to lift boxes up to 20 pounds. 

SCHEDULING

This is a benefits-eligible position, working Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. An employee in this position must be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings, during peak periods.

TRAVEL

Travel to client locations on an “as needed” basis (typically less than 40%).
