Job Title: Logistics Manager

Division - Mill

Reports To: Regional Logistics Manager

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate inbound and outbound rail shipments, including the switching of cars on campus to ensure consistent and timely flow of product in and out of the facility.
  • Manage all inbound deliveries and outbound truck shipments.
  • Understand and be able to perform all aspects of the material handler’s job.
  • Manage current inventory and conduct regular inventories as requested
  • Ensure all rates and loads are accurate in the TMW system.
  • Understand how to lay out a warehouse to maximize storage and flow in and out of the warehouses
  • Train and manage all direct reports.
  • Maintain a positive, solution-orientated work environment.
  • Support, implement and manage all required mill and corrugator work rules and policies.
  • Control cost.
  • Responsible for all shifts, weekends and holidays. Create and implement work schedule.
  • Work closely with other Logistics Managers to ensure maximum utilization of assets.
  • Liaise and interface with the mill and corrugator teams to ensure all service needs are met.
  • Manage a fleet of approximately 15 tractor trailers and drivers.
  • Safety – enforce all safety rules and lead by example.
  • Housekeeping – work area must be kept clean and presentable.
  • Have a plan to cover for vacations and unpredictable circumstances
  • Any and all other duties as assigned

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management: Familiarity with the entire supply chain process, from sourcing to delivery. 
  • Knowledge of Logistics Software and Systems: Familiarity with ERP and TMS systems, for example. Computer literate (TMW, ADP, MS Office including Word and Excel as well as accounting software)
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential for liaising with various stakeholders. 
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Problem-solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve logistical challenges. 
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in managing shipments and inventory.
