Interlake Mecalux is hiring a Logistics Engineer to join our Melrose Park, IL corporate location.

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling, reviewing, following, and controlling production plans using SAP, conferring heavily with Planning and Production departments. 
    • Creating plans for optimal order sequence in order to follow the frame assembly production process to assure compliance with shipping dates and minimizing changeover times;
    • Estimating standard and maximum capacity of the frame assembly production process;
    • Ensuring material availability by communicating with production and planning departments daily;
    • Creating and updating production orders based on customer requests and production constraints;
    • Maintaining key performance indicators weekly to monitor and analyze frame assembly production process by checking with compliance and planning department taking into consideration frames assembled per week, planned shifts per week, average people working each shift per week, frames assembled per hour (based on the number of bolts per frame), and overall equipment efficiency;
  • Detecting and measuring industrial or logistics processes that can be improved utilizing SAP, EASY WMS, and Excel software;
    • Redesigning and implementing layouts and processes to streamline the flow of material within the plant by utilizing lean manufacturing concepts and techniques;
    • Developing replenishment strategies of semi-finished goods to ensure material availability for production processes;
    • Diminishing waste and obsolete material in the warehouse by conducting processes to transform material into usable products and providing reports to the sales department on what material becomes available after the process is completed;
    • Standardizing and documenting industrial processes through visual management of warehouse operations;
    • Developing and updating key performance indicators, such as PVP, weight, defects in transport, inventory, and tariffs, to monitor industrial processes;
  • Maintaining and guaranteeing accuracy of finished and semi-finished goods for inventory utilizing Easy WMS software;
    • Ensuring accuracy of stock levels of finished and semi-finished goods throughout the five distribution centers in the U.S., adjusting stock numbers, and fixing discrepancies at both system and plant levels; reporting daily results to management;
    • Overseeing annual general physical inventory and reporting results from all Interlake Mecalux’s distribution centers in the U.S.;
    • Registering and adjusting in Easy WMS software all production defects and damaged material from transportation, tracking movements, and analyzing the root cause of the defect;
    • Validating reception of returned goods in SAP and EASY WMS;
  • Providing cross-functional support in all stages of sales related to products and inventory levels by utilizing SAP heavily to analyze and improve processes, manage sales and production orders, and transportation orders and deliveries;
    • Delivering logistics and customer service departments with lead times and estimated ship dates of material based on production orders status, transportation tracking, and stock availability;
    • Advising purchasing, logistics, and/or customer service departments on any incidents throughout production flow;
  • Managing and controlling company systems, including the warehouse management system (EASY WMS) and the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system;
    • Coordinating adjustments of stock by advising on the appropriate way to perform an adjustment within the EASY WMS software;
    • Performing system movements in SAP and EASY WMS such as completing cancellations of system entries, virtual transfers of material, transformation of part numbers, posting of deliveries, and creation of transportation orders;
    • Providing cross-functional support in SAP transaction knowledge;
  • Managing relationships with suppliers by consistently communicating the following;
    • Reporting inconsistencies in the receipt of goods from external and internal suppliers, either in quality or amount received; and
    • Coordinating availability of components and finished goods by requesting status on upstream production processes.
Qualifications
  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería.  Se valorará la posesión de un Máster en Ingeniería.
  • Capacidad para trabajar en un entorno de fábrica.
  • Imprescindible dominio del inglés y español.
