About the Role
Uber Freight Engineering works strategically with clients to gain an understanding of their specific supply chain challenges and to jointly explore supply chain improvement opportunities. In addition, the group provides tactical decision-making services that bridge the gap between strategic planning and operational execution. Our clients have taken advantage of our multi-level approach and have realized benefits such as network optimization, improved utilization of private fleet operations, lowest cost mode conversion, assignment of carriers to dedicated lanes, and reduction of detention and accessorial charges.
What the Candidate Will Do
RFP Management & Optimization
- Serve as the dedicated procurement lead, managing and executing end-to-end complex transportation RFPs utilizing an e-sourcing platform.
- Design and configure sophisticated bid events within a bid platform, establishing precise rate matrices, accessorial structures, and capacity constraints.
- Perform advanced scenario modeling and cost-to-serve optimizations within a bid platform environment to evaluate carrier bids and finalize strategic award recommendations.
- Act as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the bid platform, establishing procurement best practices, standardizing RFP templates, and mentoring team members on e-sourcing strategies.
Internal Analytical Support
- Analyze consolidation savings for internal customers
- Ad-Hoc Reporting
- Statistical Analysis
Supply Chain Solutions
- Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of customers supply chain opportunities and challenges
- Use advanced modeling to evaluate and optimize the customer's transportation and distribution network
- Lane Benchmarking (Utilize Uber Freight market knowledge and leverage existing Uber Freight data, including procurement and that of external data sources.)
- Help design an optimized Transportation Strategy for our customers to support their goals
Lead & Manage Projects
- Serve as the primary engineering lead on high-stakes consulting, strategic, and procurement projects.
- Interact directly with executive-level customers to gather requirements, manage expectations, and confidently present the outcomes of strategic analyses.
- Direct cross-functional teams and coordinate various engineering, operational, and commercial tasks required for seamless project execution.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4+ years of experience in logistics engineering, transportation procurement, or supply chain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, or Python).
- Basic understanding of advanced Supply Chain Management principles, network design, and procurement strategies.
- Ability to lead projects and work in a customer-facing role
