Job DescriptionAbout the role
We are seeking an experienced Export Logistics Coordinator to join our Commodity Trading team. This is a fast-paced role responsible for coordinating export shipments and domestic logistics movements, ensuring contractual obligations are met while delivering efficient and cost-effective outcomes.
This is a 25-hour-per-week part-time opportunity. We are flexible on location and will consider candidates from across New Zealand.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, shipping lines, transport providers, and internal stakeholders, you will manage the end-to-end logistics process, support commodity trading activities.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys solving complex logistics challenges, and has a strong understanding of international trade and export operations.
Key Responsibilities
You will play a critical role in ensuring export and domestic logistics activities are executed accurately, efficiently, and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate export shipments and domestic logistics movements from order confirmation through to delivery.
- Prepare, review, and manage export documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, Letters of Credit, and shipping documentation.
- Liaise with customers, shipping lines, transport providers, agents, and consignees to ensure seamless logistics operations.
- Monitor shipment progress, resolve logistical issues, and manage risks associated with international and domestic transport.
- Manage export-related financial administration, including invoicing, payment tracking.
About you
You are highly organised, commercially minded, and thrive in a role where attention to detail is critical. You have strong logistics and export experience, enjoy building relationships with stakeholders, and can confidently manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in export logistics, international trade, freight forwarding, or a similar logistics environment.
- Knowledge of Letters of Credit, international payment terms, and foreign trade requirements.
- Experience coordinating sea and/or air freight shipments and managing shipping documentation.
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work with urgency and adapt to changing market and logistics conditions.
Desirable:
- International Trade qualification.
- MPI Trade Certification.
- Customs Digital Certificate.
- Experience within commodity trading, recycling, manufacturing, or export-focused industries.
- Knowledge of shipping documentation and logistics management systems.
