Job Purpose:
Performing the task of expediting (inbound and outbound), drop shipments, freight auditing and customs compliance.
Essential Job Duties:
- To ensure all shipments coming inbound and going outbound move as quickly as possible and are delivered within their schedule
- Resolve any issues associated with delays on any inbound or outbound shipments
- To ensure all shipments are proactively expedited through customs and are imported in accordance with customs compliance
- Identifying service failures in a timely manner and processed for credit approval according to the carrier guidelines
- When needed, move shipments as quickly as possible (next flight outs, hot shots, drop shipments, etc.)
- To provide timely international and domestic quotes for any Smith & Associates or Consignment shipment at a minimum cost where service is not jeopardized
- To proactively research missing freight and file claim if needed
- May be on call throughout the night
Job Qualifications
Experience:
- Transportation industry experience is preferred.
- Must be self-motivated
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Multi-tasking and organization skills a must
- Strong communication skills and excellent follow through are a must
Education:
- College degree or equivalent job experience preferred
Certifications:
- Forklift Certification or willing to complete
Software Requirements:
- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel required
- Working knowledge of Internet
- Working knowledge of Smith and Associates’ Proprietary Systems
- Working knowledge of Smith and Associates’ Glovia platform
- Working knowledge of Axis
Physical Demands:
Lift packages up to 45 lbs
