The Location Management Manager (Real Estate & Strategic Projects) supports the Location Management Senior Manager and Director and collaborates with personnel across all Firm offices and organizational levels. The Manager directly supervises one to two project managers and provides leadership and guidance across the Location Management function. Key areas of responsibility include lease and contract review and management, office openings and closings, regulatory and entity matters, process documentation, and other assigned projects and initiatives.

The Manager provides management oversight for assigned projects and initiatives, supervising and guiding project managers, reviewing project work and deliverables, and working closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers on project, contractual, regulatory, and business matters. The Manager has primary responsibility for lease review and related lease documentation and also plays a key role in contract review, regulatory filings, entity restructuring, and the planning and execution of office openings and closings. The Manager helps ensure assigned projects and initiatives are executed effectively and in alignment with departmental objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Review and analyze lease agreements, vendor contracts, and other agreements related to real estate, construction, sustainability, and other Location Management initiatives, and support the negotiation of such agreements. Serve as the team's primary resource for lease review and related lease documentation.

  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert for the Source-to-Pay system, providing guidance and support on system usage, processes, requirements, and best practices.

  • Lead and coordinate the planning and execution of assigned new office openings and office closings, including management of business, operational, technology, facilities, and occupancy-related activities; support or lead office relocations and other related initiatives as assigned.

  • Coordinate regulatory business registrations, licenses, and related filings required for office openings and closings, working closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers, as appropriate.

  • Lead and coordinate entity restructuring initiatives, including changes to existing legal entities and related organizational structures, working closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers to manage required documentation, filings, approvals, and implementation activities.

  • Develop executive-level summaries, recommendations, and presentation materials to support decision-making for assigned projects.

  • Review, update, and contribute to financial analyses related to assigned projects and initiatives, as needed.

  • Communicate the operational and financial impacts of lease decisions, construction projects, and other assigned initiatives to affected departments and stakeholders.

  • Assist in the preparation of supporting analyses and documentation for the annual capital budgeting and forecasting process.

  • Utilize space management software and related tools to support planning, reporting, and analysis activities, and assist with system administration, evaluation, and enhancement initiatives, as needed.

  • Review team deliverables and provide training, coaching, and professional development for project managers.

  • Establish priorities, manage workloads, and coordinate schedules for direct reports.

  • Support sustainability reporting initiatives, as needed, including the collection, validation, and reporting of data used to support the calculation of the Firm’s carbon emissions.

  • Collaborate with Accounting, Procurement, Information Technology, Human Resources, Facilities, Office Administrators, and other departments across the Firm on cross-functional initiatives.

  • Independently analyze complex issues, identify solutions, and make recommendations aligned with business objectives.

  • Lead additional Firm projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Travel is expected to be infrequent; however, the ability to travel, including occasional extended stays, is required as business needs dictate.

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, real estate, contract management, business operations, or related business functions.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading and supervising professional staff, including responsibility for work allocation, performance management, coaching, and employee development.

  • Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting contracts and other business agreements.

  • Strong analytical skills and financial literacy, including the ability to review, interpret, update, and contribute to financial analyses related to assigned projects and initiatives.

  • Strong ability to synthesize complex information and develop executive-level summaries, analyses, recommendations, presentations, and other supporting materials for leadership review and decision-making.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:

  • Degree concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience reviewing commercial real estate leases and related lease documentation.

  • Experience working within a professional services environment.

  • Public accounting, consulting, or related advisory experience.

The target salary range for this role is:

$107,000 - $148,000 if located in Illinois.

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
