PeopleCert is looking for a Localisation Engineer, responsible for supporting PeopleCert’s existing and future markets globally. You will deliver content in multiple languages via different platforms and in a variety of formats. As a Localisation Engineer, you will work in a fast-paced, international environment, utilizing your seasoned project management skills and passion for translation technology. This role involves a constant search for improvements and the next best thing in i10n, i18n, and g11n best practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to enhance our localisation processes and contribute to our international success.

As a Localisation Engineer, your tasks will include the following:

  • Support the Head of Translations and the wider organisation to identify improvements and implement better localisation solutions (MT, NMT, etc.)
  • Identify processes and tools needed to enable scale and growth in a short space of time
  • Design workflows to support continuous localisation
  • Manage TMS and create maintenance programme for all critical assets (TMs, TBs, etc.) to ensure leverage builds up with quality, consistency and speed as the main areas of focus
  • Support where applicable and identify where this can be implemented at scale with or without machine translation
  • Assess content for localizability and select appropriate localization solutions for specific content types
  • Prepare files for localisation and provide feedback to internal stakeholders where appropriate to ensure constant feedback loop between the localisation team and the rest of the business.
  • Help design QA workflows to ensure high-quality outputs in a range of formats & platforms
  • Help drive translation and localisation projects from start to finish, in order to keep track of all deliverables
  • Take part in daily stand-ups and project meetings where applicable
  • Establish and develop good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders. This will involve online meetings and presentations.
  • Training/mentoring and supporting more junior team members where applicable

What we look for:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a client-side or LSP role as localisation engineer, senior localisation manager, localisation engineering coordinator, etc.
  • Extensive globalization experience (internationalisation and localisation)
  • Excellent understanding of the wider range of localisation tools, including CAT tools, TMS, MT, NMT, etc., with a specific interest in XTM
  • Experience in working with a range of CMSs including Contenstack, Sitecore, etc.
  • Proven experience in automation and continuous localization
  • Experience in working with internal teams or clients (engineering, production and development) to ensure all internationalisation aspects have been addressed
  • Solid experience in delivering high quality international content
  • Excellent understanding of localisation best practices
  • Excellent command of the English language (C2 level certification is required, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus)
  • Be at the top of technology solutions, and use the latest tools as per the latest tech trends (e.g. creating content with AI tools)
  • Certification in PRINCE2, PRINCE2 Agile, Scrum would be a plus
  • Advanced computer literacy is required. ECDL Advanced level certification is desirable

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity, and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter-Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK

In addition, if the personnel is required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in the English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
