This Position reports to:
Global Business Line Manager - Marine Systems
In this role, you will define and drive the implementation of a winning local go-to-market strategy and setup, fully aligned with the global Marine & Ports division’s strategy and priorities.
You will support the local Business Line in achieving short-term performance targets while building a deep understanding of the market and customers to identify opportunities that enable mid- to long-term profitable growth.
Your success will be based on strong business and people leadership: developing teams and capabilities, translating division strategies and growth plans into concrete actions, and fostering an engaged, inclusive, and attractive organization.
A key part of the role is to lead by example and take clear ownership for Marine & Ports’ license to operate in the country, in close collaboration with the local leadership team.
This role is located in Busan – South Korea.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Driving appropriate cost structure, productivity optimization, and capital efficiency with special focus areas such as profitability, costing/hourly rates, over/under-absorption analysis, demand analysis (customer/account, channels, industry), go-to-market, cost-to-serve, channel profitability and ROI, investment in SG&A resources and sales efficiency.
- Defining and implementing the country business strategy and drive in the local sales unit, with full profit and loss responsibility for Marine & Ports market organization.
- Supporting all local Marine & Ports Divisions’ mid-term strategies and growth ambitions, with a strong focus on go-to market and sales strategy to increase market penetration and market share.
- Ensuring profitable business growth by setting clear performance targets, monitoring results regularly and defining improvement actions when needed.
- Overseeing delivery of high-quality products, services and processes and building and maintaining relationships with key customers.
- A key part of this role is to ensure that local and global standards, tools, policies and processes related to sales excellence are implemented and followed, and that best practices and lessons learned are shared across the organization.
- You will uphold a zero-tolerance approach to integrity breaches and unethical business, safeguarding ABB’s license to operate by supporting risk assessment of business decisions based on local regulations, customers, markets knowledge, and overall interest of ABB.
- You will be also responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, driving continuous HSE improvement and compliance.
- Together with local HR leadership, you will make sure organization is well structured, staffed, skilled and effectively led, guiding, coaching, motivating and developing your teams in line with ABB’s HR policies.
Qualifications for the role
- A minimum of 10 years of business leadership experience, preferably in a Sales/Service/Operations environment.
- Excellent knowledge of sales processes and tools complemented with the courage and curiosity to challenge the norm to continuously improve.
- Strong business acumen and proven industrial market experience and customer centric DNA to enable outside in thinking and acting.
- University degree in Engineering, Master’s, MBA or similar is preferable with solid skills across business management, sales and project management.
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills.
