The LMS Administrator is the lead system administrator responsible for maintenance, support, and administration of the PenLearn, Penumbra’s Learning Management System (LMS). The role will also provide technical support and analytics to users and key stakeholders across the organization. The system contains instructional content supporting employees, partners, and customers. This role supports the development and maintenance of courses, taxonomy and other processes as needs are identified from cross-functional sources. Works in alignment with Production Training and Instructional Design teams to build and manage throughout the course lifecycle content for the LMS.

What you'll work on:

  • Maintain and provide support for the company’s Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Responsible as main point-of-contact for LMS technical support
  • Ensure effective administration of the LMS, including back-up, maintenance, and system changes
  • Liaise with LMS vendor on updates, troubleshooting or other issues related to LMS functionality
  • Assist in the publishing and maintenance of current training materials
  • Analyses learning management system databases, prepares reports, comprehends data, and disseminates reports as required
  • Respond to business needs and aligns learning program structures and instructor led offerings within the learning management system based on these requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining learning paths and user related data within the learning management system
  • Proactively recommend, implement, and document solutions for systemic training related issues
  • Analyze business and customer requirements; propose and implement required improvements to the LMS
  • Perform ongoing evaluation of analysis and maintenance of documentation as it relates to supporting system improvements
  • Generate trending data to support system effectiveness

What you bring:

  • Proven experience managing a learning management system (LMS) or similar database
  • High level conceptual and analytical skills and the demonstrated capacity to develop innovative solutions in learning management system configuration and administration
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business processes and policies to meet the needs of the organization
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high level, quality, and customer focused services
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to produce complex documentation or reports as well as an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, for example, be able to create, analyze and manipulate data using pivot tables and formulas
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Teams
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external teams and partners
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Technical certifications or coursework related to LMS administration
  • 3-5 years business systems analysis experience on LMS applications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Education, Software Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of experience in systems administration (preferably LMS/eDMS) in the medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with Training Systems (such as SAP Litmos), Microsoft Office Professional Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
