Administer and support the LMS (Blackboard) and related web applications, troubleshoot systems, provide technical customer service to faculty/staff/students, analyze usage and performance, lead IT projects, manage identity/access services (SSO/MFA), and evaluate emerging educational technologies.

This position is responsible for collaborating with university community partners to support the effective use of applications managed by eLearning Technologies. These applications include the learning management system and associated data systems, video platform, accessibility tools, emergency communication platforms, and additional third-party integrations that support the learning environment. This role provides technical support, troubleshoots system issues, and delivers responsive, high-quality customer service to faculty, staff, and students.
Salary & Benefits: 
Minimum starting salary of $66,000; Commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties: 

1. Provide administrative and technical support for the learning management system (Blackboard) and associated web applications managed by eLearning Technologies, ensuring reliable system performance and effective use by faculty, staff, and students.

2. Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the university community to support timely issue resolution, high levels of customer service, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning technologies. Translate non-technical user needs and feedback into actionable technical requirements, bridging the gap between end users and technical solutions.

3. Support, maintain, and troubleshoot client/server systems and web applications. Collaborate with campus and vendor partners to implement enhancements and support the ongoing operation and improvement of supported systems.

4. Provide statistics and system analysis on assigned projects, LMS usage, and third-party applications. Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex data into actionable insights. Monitor and report on system and application performance metrics.

5. Serve as a project lead on assigned IT initiatives and implementations that support teaching, learning, and student success.  This includes facilitating conversations with non-technical stakeholders to define project goals and translating those goals into technical plans and deliverables.

6. Conduct research and evaluation of software, hardware, operating systems, and emerging technologies. Recommend solutions that support the university’s teaching, learning, and educational computing needs.

7. Support identity and access management services for web applications, including single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA). Collaborate with campus and vendor partners to ensure secure and reliable authentication services.

8. Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in web applications. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience programming and supporting web applications. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience with SQL. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with IT Service Management (ITSM).
  • Experience working under pressure, multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and collegial relationships with peers, customers, administrators, vendors, etc.
  • Must be able to demonstrate how to protect and safeguard sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Cooperative team player who can collaborate effectively with faculty/staff of all levels throughout the university.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Experience with learning management systems (Blackboard), video platforms (Panopto), accessibility tools (Blackboard Ally), emergency communication platforms (Alertus, Rave), virtual meeting platform (Zoom), survey and assessment tools (Qualtrics), and student information systems (Workday).
  • Experience with IT Service Management (Team Dynamics) and iPaas.
  • Experience with Linux, as well as PHP, Python, cURL, and SQL programming w/version control.
  • Experience with Power BI and related dashboard/report building.
  • Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
