As a LiveStrong Program Assistant, you'll support cancer survivors on their journey to regain strength, confidence, and improve their overall quality of life in a welcoming and encouraging YMCA environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist the LiveStrong Program Instructor during exercise and support sessions for cancer survivors.
- Provide encouragement and individualized support to participants throughout each class.
- Help ensure exercises are modified appropriately based on participants' fitness levels and recovery needs.
- Monitor participant safety and communicate any concerns or changes to the instructor.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere that promotes connection and accountability.
- Support program setup, equipment organization, and overall class operations.
- Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and abuse risk management requirements.

What We're Looking For
- Passion for helping others improve their health and well-being.
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate and supportive approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with instructors, staff, and participants.
- Experience in fitness, wellness, rehabilitation, healthcare, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with exercise programs for cancer recovery is preferred; willingness to complete additional training as needed.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
