SUMMARY

The Liturgy Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to plan and execute parish liturgies and celebrations. The Coordinator develops and directs liturgical ministers to provide leadership on Sundays and other special liturgies that will lead parishioners “to that full, conscious, and active participation. This position will report directly to the Pastor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Pastoral Minister as Person of Faith.

As a pastoral minister, the Liturgy Coordinator has the responsibility to nurture his or her own faith to nurture the faith of others.

· Oversees the planning and execution of all liturgical celebrations, including prayer services, confirmation, baptism, reconciliation, weddings, funerals, and anointing of the sick.

· Ensures the integrity of the liturgical year in coordination with the Music Ministry and Clergy.

· Works with the Volunteer Coordinators and Liturgical Committee Heads to recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for each Liturgical Ministry, Sacrament, and Pastoral Care ministries.

· Oversees infant baptism, including working with baptismal coordinators to prepare and schedule baptisms and classes.

· Oversees both the Wedding Preparation and the Liturgical Celebration of Marriage.

· Provides pastoral support to families who have lost a loved one and coordinate the Funeral Mass.

· Coordinates and schedules Nursing home Masses and visits, with the homebound ministry.

· Supervises the planning and execution of the Church liturgical environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

CATHOLIC FAITH

Practice of the Catholic faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Theology, Liturgy or equivalent; Three or more years of experience as a parish liturgist or liturgical coordinator; Possesses a strong knowledge of Church liturgical documents, ritual books, and music publishers; knowledge and experience of liturgical music is a plus; proficient in the use of computers, printers, copiers, and the internet. Proficient in the use of Microsoft products, specifically Office365, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access and simple usage of music writing programs such as Finale/Sibelius. 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-faceted      environment while maintaining the highest degree of accuracy and quality      of tasks assigned.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a wide range of situations and      respond to the pressure of changing project scope, conditions, and      deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly earn the confidence of individuals and groups      they collaborate and coordinates information, including members of various      diocesan and parish committees, and clergy.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness as they apply to all areas of responsibility.      Maintains customer confidence and protects sensitive operations by keeping      information confidential.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed. Performs extensive computer work. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).

Skills Required
