Overview
The Litigation and Insurance Counsel will provide strategic legal guidance and lead complex litigation
matters in addition to managing insurance coverage issues, risk management, and related regulatory
issues. This role will be responsible for managing all phases of litigation, advising internal stakeholders on
coverage positions, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
The position will work closely with executive leadership, risk management, finance, operations, and
external counsel to protect the company’s interests in contested matters and coverage determinations.
The ideal candidate brings at least 10 years of substantive experience in commercial litigation, including
declaratory judgment actions, bad faith claims, and regulatory proceedings in addition to making claims
with insurance providers and dealing with disputes related to coverage.


Responsibilities
As a Litigation Counsel, you will:

  • Lead and manage complex litigation matters in state and federal courts
  • Coordinate with outside counsel to advance Conservice’s interest in pending litigation and
    regulatory disputes
  • Work with operational teams, law clerks, and paralegals to facilitate the discovery process and
    gather the required disclosure documentation
  • Analyze and interpret commercial insurance policies, including general liability, professional
    liability, property, umbrella, and specialty lines
  • Provide strategic advice regarding coverage positions, risk exposure, and claims handling
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel, including litigation strategy, budgeting, and performance
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, coverage opinions, and settlement agreements
  • Represent the organization in mediation, arbitration, and court proceedings
  • Advise internal stakeholders on risk mitigation, indemnity provisions, and contractual insurance
    requirements
  • Monitor and assess regulatory and legislative developments impacting insurance coverage and
    litigation risk
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop proactive litigation and claims strategies
  • Support internal investigations and respond to regulatory inquiries as needed
  • Provide training to internal teams on insurance coverage and risk-related issues
Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial litigation and insurance coverage
  • Strong expertise in policy analysis, declaratory relief actions, and bad faith litigation
  • Extensive courtroom and motion practice experience
  • Experience managing outside counsel and litigation budgets preferred
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Strong strategic thinking and risk assessment capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with executive leadership
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
