Provide litigation support and lead aspects of contentious trust, company, cross-border fraud and insolvency matters. Manage client work, draft legal documents, perform research, prepare court cases, liaise with clients, supervise support staff, ensure CDD/AML compliance, and contribute to business development and firm reputation.

To work as part of the team providing a full range of litigation services to the clients of Bedell Cristin, BVI. This will entail supporting the partner(s) and taking principal responsibility as appropriate for cases involving a variety of contentious work, including contentious trust and company, cross border fraud and insolvency.
Preference will be given to qualified Virgin Islands Belongers and other candidates with an unrestricted right to work in the BVI.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate client work as delegated by the partners including but not limited to, researching, writing opinions, reviewing documentation, drafting, preparing cases for court.
- Deliver excellent quality, timely and professional client service.
- Liaising with clients and providing legal advice as delegated by the partners
- Performing legal research and analysis.
- Checking legal forms/documents for accuracy.
- Preparing reports and correspondence.
- Drafting a range of legal documents.
- Help to motivate, manage and develop support staff in the team.
- Working with colleagues from other teams and offices on multi-disciplinary and international projects.
- Reviewing and summarising legal documents
- Managing time recording, billing and collections efficiently and in line with policy
- Updating the Client Relationship Management system
- Ensuring matters are successfully opened & closed ensuring compliance with our CDD and AML procedures
- Within the firm and team's strategy, contribute to the development and implementation of business development plans, helping to attract more work from existing clients and developing new client relationships.
- Supporting new ventures, identifying cross selling opportunities and seeking ways to develop our services.
- Carrying out non-chargeable activities to build the firm's know-how and external reputation through seminars/writing of articles/attending and assisting with presentations etc.
- Promoting and strengthening the Bedell Cristin brand, including attendance at functions and client events.
- Assisting with special projects, both in and out of regular working hours.
- Taking responsibility for a wide range of tasks/projects as required by partners in the group.
Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years post qualification experience - ideally admitted in the BVI
Knowledge/skills/experience
- Relevant litigation experience gained in a larger/major international law firm (this may be a regional office)
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Good drafting and research skills
- Strong IT skills
- Knowledge of research platforms, document management systems
- Good understanding of business social media tools
- An understanding of key financial indicators and disciplines relating to time recording and billing
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to time manage and prioritise effectively.
- Willingness to become Higher Rights Advocacy Qualified (HRAQ) in due course

Skills Required
- 3-5 years post-qualification experience
- Admission in the British Virgin Islands (ideally)
- Relevant litigation experience in a major/international law firm
- Experience with contentious trust and company, cross-border fraud and insolvency matters
