Leidos Defense Systems is currently seeking Linux System Administrator to work in our Bowie, MD office.
The candidate will be part of an IT and engineering team responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, configuration management, monitoring, and trouble shooting of an expanding infrastructure supporting a multi-platform, multi-site, high availability, secure, real-time network. The work to be performed will require that the candidate be able to work comfortably at several levels of support from installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and managing of the Linux infrastructure related to software and services. Provide updates to team members and management for strategic planning purposes.
Projects and tasks will be assigned and at times self-initiated requiring independent judgement in balancing of resources, schedules, work hours, as well as travel to regional sites to obtain results. Work will require ability to manage the risk for PC workstations and peripherals, and ancillary equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
The selected individual will be responsible for performing daily Linux system administration and O&M support activities in support of a complex network environment with geographically distributed systems. The position entails the daily sustainment of existing computing and network systems at various locations, with a particular focus on the set-up and maintenance of an off-site location. Will be responsible for monitoring infrastructure systems, applications, and processes, and for ensuring that all issues are identified, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner. She/he will provide support for all infrastructure systems and will respond to hardware and software incidents impacting local users as well as working with and taking direction from senior system administrators, at times working with them remotely from other locations.

Provide system administration / installation / configuration / troubleshooting for mission and analytic networks.

User account management, administration, access/controls and support.

Installation, configuration, and management of servers and performance.

Kernel parameter and disk partition modification.

Ansible and playbook creation and management.

Satellite server configuration and management.
-
RedHat Identity management.

Support to WAN infrastructure

Client-server support, Linux software packages and hardware upgrades.

Provide regression testing on new software releases.

Perform OS compliance with DISA STIGS.

Developing/documenting standard operating procedures.

Endpoint Protection within Linux environment

Understanding of Linux internals (system calls, file systems, processes, etc.).

Understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, NFS).
Basic Qualifications
BS degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.

Must have technical experience configuring IT software programs that utilize complex equipment/systems (ex. Linux operating systems, VMware, Dell Power Edge Servers, Backup Servers, File Storage, etc.).

Must have technical experience troubleshooting IT software programs that utilize complex equipment/systems (ex. Linux operating systems, VMware, Dell Power Edge Servers, Backup Servers, File Storage, etc.).

Must have technical experience monitoring IT software programs that utilize complex equipment/systems (ex. Linux operating systems, VMware, Dell Power Edge Servers, Backup Servers, File Storage, etc.).

Must have experience with the DISA STIGS

Must have experience with IT system optimization, monitoring, and/or other technical set-up and troubleshooting.

Must have experience providing information for and documenting technical processes.

Must have experience or strong familiarity with Data Center design, configuration, and support (e.g. rack and stack, power, placement, etc.).

Must be capable of responding very quickly to customer inquiries in a clear, concise manner, to include providing detailed and comprehensive status reports and follow-ups.

Must be committed to adopting and adhering to best practices including compliance with maintenance windows and change control procedures.

Must possess strong analytic abilities and must be meticulous and careful in their work.

Must be an independent thinker capable of working proficiently independently as well as within a team.

Must be able to respond to system administration, operations, and maintenance problems on an as-needed or on-call basis.

Must be a US citizen and be a resident of Bowie, MD or be willing to relocate to the Bowie, MD area.
Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge/experience with backup solutions for physical and virtual environments.

Knowledge/experience with SPLUNK.

Knowledge/experience with Nvidia and Cuda drivers.

Pay Range:Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
