Responsibilities:

1. System/User Environment Assessment:

   • Evaluate the existing system/user environment.
   • Provide a comprehensive analysis with pros and cons.
   • Collaborate in the design of new systems, considering hypervisor options.

2. Collaborative Design and Implementation:

   • Work closely with networking teams.
   • Rack, connect, configure, partition, and set up virtual machines (VMs).
   • Collaborate in the selection and purchase of new equipment based on assessment outcomes.

3. Migration and Implementation:

   • Implement the migration of existing VMs to the new environment.
   • Manage and oversee the configuration of four host servers.
   • Oversee approximately 20 VMs utilizing Linux Redhat or Oracle VM (OVM).

4. Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:

   • Document all configurations, processes, and procedures.
   • Provide knowledge transfer to relevant teams for ongoing support.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Linux Administrator/Engineer.
• Strong expertise in virtualization technologies, especially hypervisors.
• Experience with Linux Redhat and Oracle VM (OVM).
• Proficiency in configuring and managing VMs.
• Knowledge of networking principles and collaborative work with networking teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

• Familiarity with collaborative design processes.
• Experience with systems in an academic or research environment.
• Certifications in relevant technologies.
