POSITION SUMMARY
The Light Tech I will be responsible with performing mechanical repairs on automotive, gasoline-power off road equipment and shop facility duties. Might travel to various shops and locations across the Los Angeles County area.
Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.00
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs automotive skill level I vehicle maintenance on a variety of gasoline-power equipment
- Performs vehicles Preventive Maintenance, replaces oil air filters, troubleshoots and repairs starting system, brakes system, and charging system
- Check and maintain automotive fluids levels such as gas, oil, antifreeze, water, and air
- Perform quick-fixed maintenance, patch-repair and replace tires, install / replace windshield wipers and light bulbs
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs for Electric Vehicles (EV) and hybrid models
- Perform fuel pump maintenance and repairs, check fuel levels and maintain up-to-date inventories
- Assist the Detail Technician with washing and polishing of customer's vehicles and remove decals when required
- Park, Jump-start, pick up and deliver County vehicles as needed to any vendor or County facility
- Maintain daily vehicles accountability, parked location, lane, and vehicle status
- Picking up and delivering vehicles to County, Centerra Integrated facilities, and any vendors as required
- Road-testing vehicles on public streets and highways when required and to drive to any of the five shop locations.
- Clean, sweep, mop, take out trash in working bays, and common work areas
- Ensure the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners used in performing of daily work duties
- Abide by established safety standards to meet local safety policies and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Report to various regional locations as required
- Work is typically based in one of five busy service maintenance garage environments, may require occasional on-the-road maintenance repairs. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License
- 2- 4 years of automotive experience or vocational technical school
- Must complete County requirement Live Scan
- Must be able to maintain a safety-minded approach on all work performed
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
- Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
- ASE certified or be willing to obtain one (1) certification within three months of employment
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work in any of the five shop facilities
- May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
