Liferay Developer (Temporary Contract)

About you

• Note: This is a 3-month contract position with the possibility of extension, based on performance and project needs.

You bring to Applaudo the following competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 6+ years of professional experience working with Java-based platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Liferay DXP as both administrator and developer.
• Proven experience performing Liferay upgrades, deployments, and DevOps-related tasks.
• Strong fundamentals in Java, JSP, and Portlet development.
• Experience integrating Okta with Liferay, including OIDC-based authentication and user synchronization.
• Solid background in performance tuning and remediation of technical debt in enterprise portals.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments.
• English is a requirement, as you will be working directly with US-based clients.
• Experience working in Linux environments with Tomcat and MySQL is a plus.
• Working knowledge of REST API integrations and Spring-based services supporting Liferay is a plus.

You will be accountable for the following responsibilities:

• Lead and support initiatives to address accumulated technical debt, including Liferay DXP upgrades and performance improvements.
• Implement and maintain identity integrations between Liferay and Okta, migrating authentication flows to OIDC standards.
• Manage DevOps processes for Liferay DXP deployments, ensuring stable and repeatable releases.
• Contribute to custom portal development as required by the business.
• Collaborate in architectural refinement and solution design for scalable, high-traffic environments.
• Apply agile practices while working independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Participate in documentation efforts throughout the SDLC to ensure platform maintainability and knowledge continuity.

• Liferay performance tuning.
• Okta integration experience.
