Level 4 Engineer Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Level 4 Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership, advanced escalation support, solution architecture, and complex project delivery across Microsoft, cloud, networking, and security environments.

This role is suited to a commercially minded senior engineer who can solve complex technical challenges, lead infrastructure and cloud initiatives, mentor technical teams, and build trusted relationships with clients. You will operate as a senior technical authority while driving improvements across customer environments and service delivery.

You will be working with an established managed services provider supporting businesses across Australia with managed IT services, cloud solutions, technology procurement, and software licensing. The organisation places a strong emphasis on quality, accountability, trusted technical partnerships, and delivering strong outcomes for its clients.

• 10+ years of experience in the IT industry, including 5+ years within an MSP environment supporting multiple customers
• Advanced Microsoft 365 administration and architecture experience
• Strong hands-on expertise across Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Azure, Microsoft operating systems, and cloud infrastructure
• Advanced networking and firewall administration capabilities
• Experience with enterprise Wi-Fi, network infrastructure, VPNs, routing, switching, VLANs, WAN, and internet connectivity
• Strong understanding of endpoint security, backup and disaster recovery, and cybersecurity principles
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
• Proven ability to design, troubleshoot, and improve complex infrastructure environments

• Experience implementing security controls and remediation strategies
• Understanding of security frameworks and compliance requirements, including Essential Eight, CIS Controls, NIST, and cyber insurance requirements
• Experience with security monitoring, incident response, and security investigations
• Microsoft Sentinel, SIEM, Microsoft Defender, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Cloudflare experience is highly desirable

• Ubiquiti UniFi and Sophos Firewall experience is advantageous
• Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Phone is beneficial
• Experience with ConnectWise Manage, ConnectWise Automate, IT Glue/IT Boost, and ITIL is desirable

• Proven experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail with a proactive, accountable, and outcome-focused approach
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions

• Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert

• CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification
• CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent cybersecurity certification
• ITIL Foundation or higher

• Act as the highest level of technical escalation for Level 1–3 engineers
• Lead root cause analysis for complex infrastructure and cloud issues
• Mentor and guide technical team members
• Develop and maintain technical standards, procedures, and best practices
• Review and approve technical solutions and project designs

• Design, implement, and optimise Microsoft 365 environments
• Lead projects across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, security, SharePoint, Teams Phone, and Azure
• Implement and improve Zero Trust security frameworks
• Drive automation initiatives using PowerShell and Power Platform

• Design and support enterprise-grade networking environments
• Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, network security, WAN, and internet connectivity
• Lead architecture reviews and network improvement initiatives
• Provide advanced support across Ubiquiti, Sophos, and other network technologies

• Conduct security reviews and vulnerability assessments
• Design and implement cybersecurity controls and remediation plans
• Support compliance with relevant security frameworks and cyber insurance requirements
• Assist with incident response and security investigations
• Implement and manage SIEM and security monitoring solutions

• Lead the design and delivery of complex infrastructure and cloud projects
• Participate in solution scoping and pre-sales activities
• Work with management to identify technology opportunities and improvements
• Ensure projects are delivered to scope and a high standard
• Contribute to solution architecture and strategic technology planning

• Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, as-builts, knowledge articles, and SOPs
• Maintain accurate project updates and service records
• Drive continual service improvement across the business
• Identify opportunities to improve service quality, operational efficiency, security, and technical standards

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients
• Participate in technical strategy meetings and client reviews
• Translate technical solutions and concepts into clear business outcomes
• Maintain a high standard of customer service and professional conduct
