Karrek Chartered Financial Planners is a highly respected Chartered financial planning firm based in Newquay, Cornwall. We provide comprehensive and personalised financial planning services to both individual and corporate clients across Cornwall and the UK.

We are looking for an organised, professional, and motivated individual to join our team as a Business Administrator Apprentice. In this role, you will support our advisers and administration team in delivering an exceptional ongoing service to our clients. You will gain valuable experience in financial planning administration while developing the skills and knowledge needed for a rewarding long-term career within the financial services industry.

Apprenticeship Summary

  • Salary: £14,560 per year (based on £8.00 per hour)
    Working Week: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm (1-hour lunch break)
    Hours: 35 hours per week
    Training: Online apprenticeship training supported by experienced tutors
    Qualification: Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard
    Location: 9 Hilgrove Road, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 2QY

Main Duties

  • Support advisers with actions arising from annual and biennial client reviews.
    • Prepare and issue client correspondence and ongoing service documentation.
    • Liaise with pension providers and investment companies to obtain information and process requests.
    • Maintain accurate client records using the firm's CRM system.
    • Monitor ongoing service workflows and ensure adviser actions are completed within agreed timescales.
    • Assist with general client correspondence and provider communications.
    • Support the administration team with day-to-day business administration tasks.
    • Ensure all work is completed accurately and in line with FCA compliance procedures.
    • Handle confidential client information in accordance with GDPR and company policies.
    • Support advisers with cash flow analysis and technical planning work as your knowledge develops.
    • Undertake any other duties consistent with the nature of the role.

The Candidate

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
    • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Willingness to learn and develop within the financial services industry.
    • Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively as part of a team.
    • High levels of accuracy and professionalism.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive client information.
    • Previous administration or customer service experience is desirable but not essential.
    • An interest in financial planning or financial services would be advantageous.

Training and Development

As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:

  • Study towards a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard.
    • Ongoing one-to-one mentoring from experienced financial planners and administrators.
    • Practical training in financial planning administration, pensions and investments.
    • Experience using industry-leading financial planning systems and provider platforms.
    • Development of technical knowledge, organisational skills and FCA compliance awareness.
    • Opportunity to study towards professional qualifications with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) as your knowledge and experience develop.
