Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, has a temporary employment opportunity for two Legislative Assistants in the Government Law & Policy practice group of our Tallahassee office.
Position Summary:
The Legislative Assistant will support the Government Law & Policy department and provide a wide range of administrative, secretarial, and document processing services. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Monitors legislative committee meetings and writes committee summaries

Tracks legislation including: sending out newly-filed bills and e-filing them into the office’s bill tracking system, i.e., Lobbytools.

Monitors the release of and disseminates legislative committee information

Assists in maintaining legislative calendars for lobbyists

Completes lobbyist registration forms

Generates lobbyist and client bill reports

Monitors coverage of the Florida House and Senate during the session months, and other legislative-related duties

Prepares a summary of committee debate and action suitable for dissemination

Assists with other Government Law & Policy activities/special projects as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Skills & Competencies:

Work efficiently with the ability to multi-task and set priorities while maintaining and delivering the highest quality work product accurately and timely

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation

Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Qualifications & Prior Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred

Previous legislative experience preferred

Working knowledge of Lobbytools
-
Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
