About the Cruise Legal Organization:
Cruise is creating a new-to-the-world service and a world-changing category of autonomous vehicle mobility. On the legal side, we’re the team charged with helping guide the company on legal and risk considerations as we unlock the future. We’re a collegial group in which every role matters, and you’ll have an impact on high stakes decisions, working with technical and development teams solving some of the hardest engineering challenges of our generation. This position will report to our Deputy General Counsel, Product, Commercialization, and Legal Ops.
Day-to-day responsibilities Include:
- Serving as a primary point person for Cruise’s Product, Commercialization, and Operations teams, providing product counseling as we launch, deliver, and scale our products and services.
- Providing mentorship on risks and requirements related to our products and services, including privacy, accessibility, marketing claims, and in-vehicle and in-app customer experiences.
- Developing and advising on customer-facing materials, such as privacy policies, product disclosures, and terms of service.
- Understanding the business environment and using analytical skills, experience, and high judgment to set compliance priorities and risk mitigation strategies.
- Developing, implementing, and managing relevant training for our Product, Commercialization, and Operations organizations.
- Establishing repeatable, scalable, and closed loop mechanisms for communicating legal guidance and monitoring implementation.
- Providing day to day guidance on a range of matters as needed by Cruise teams.
You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:
- Experienced attorney with 5+ years performing product counseling on technology or consumer products at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Strong, demonstrated interest in technology and Cruise products and services.
- Ability to relate and communicate with engineers, PMs, and TPMs.
- Data and security breach counseling experience a plus.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment and cross-functionally.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with short deadlines simultaneously.
- Highly responsive and service oriented with excellent legal and business judgment.
- Law degree from highly regarded school; technical undergraduate degree a plus.
- Member of a State bar.
