The Red Hat Legal team is looking for an experienced, motivated, and highly qualified Senior Compliance Attorney to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will assist in the management and continuous improvement of Red Hat's global anti-corruption compliance program. You will work in close partnership with key regional business functions, like Legal, Sales, and Services, global channel team, finance, internal audit, procurement, and HR, to increase global consistency in our world-class processes. In addition, you will provide guidance and training to further the strategic goals of Red Hat's global anti-corruption compliance program. The role requires you to have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and constantly evolving environment. As a Senior Compliance Attorney, you'll be a key member of Red Hat's Global Legal Compliance team and interact directly with business unit leaders and executives. To succeed in this role, you'll need to be capable of managing multiple complex matters at the same time and providing nuanced advice and guidance to an entrepreneurial and rapidly expanding organization across geographies, cultures, and functions. A passion for working collaboratively with others is critical to success. You will have the opportunity to gain meaningful experience with Red Hat's global business and quickly become a strategic partner to the business and an integral member of the Legal team.

What you will do

  • Provide strategic and tactical compliance counsel to regional attorneys and internal customers in support of Red Hat's anti-corruption program
  • Collaborate with Red Hat's global channel compliance team, information technology, and other colleagues to develop strategies in support of the enhancement and implementation of robust and globally consistent policies, procedures, controls, and systems for Red Hat's anti-corruption program
  • Support our third party due diligence program by providing regional guidance regarding potential red flags and implement appropriate remediation procedures
  • Participate in periodic internal and external audits, regional reviews, and risk assessments and implement appropriate risk mitigations and tailor training based on findings
  • Provide advice to relevant global stakeholders on the interpretation and application of laws, regulations, best practices, and policies and procedures related to risk, including the application of policies governing anti-bribery, gift, meal, entertainment, and travel
  • Work with Red Hat's regional counsel for interpretation of local laws and review of partner discounts and deal structure
  • Implement training initiatives and collaborate with Red Hat associates to develop systems, processes, monitoring, and root cause analysis activities and reports using data analytics and related tools
  • Support channel partner and supplier development by analyzing and providing substantive feedback on legal agreements with prospective and existing partners and suppliers
  • Promote the importance of a solid ethical culture and awareness of the Red Hat's ethics and compliance program, provide regular updates to senior management, and lead or support other ethics and compliance initiatives, as necessary


What you will bring

  • J.D. and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
  • 3+ years of anti-corruption compliance experience in a law firm or in-house, with an in-depth understanding of applicable anti-bribery laws and regulations, including the FCPA and U.K. Bribery Act, Brazil Clean Companies Act, and the OECD convention on combating bribery; experience working in a major law firm and with an S&P 500 company is a plus
  • Significant experience implementing and managing anti-corruption compliance programs, with a solid understanding of risk assessment and third party due diligence
  • Comfortable analyzing complex data, drawing logical conclusions, and implementing pragmatic solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with all levels of our organization and external contacts, and to work effectively in a professional team environment
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, with sound judgment and ability to influence and work with others in a growing, global business
  • Proactive approach to recognizing business and compliance needs, anticipating issues, and applying thorough and thoughtful analysis and exceptional sense of judgment in determining recommended steps and actions relative to compliance matters
