Spotify’s awesome Employment Legal team is looking for an experienced senior employment counsel to join the band. As senior employment counsel at Spotify, you will assist in day-to-day employment and labor matters, projects, acquisitions as well as overseeing employment-related disputes.


What you´ll do

  • Partner with and provide legal guidance to colleagues in Human Resources and other key business stakeholders regarding all substantive employment law areas.
  • Assist with providing employment legal advice in a broad range of employment related matters and projects in the U.S. and globally.
  • Draft and advise on employment-related documents, including contracts, offer letters, agreements and policies.
  • Provide advice and develop strategy with senior leadership on company-wide initiatives affecting employees.
  • Provide advice regarding employee and labor relations. 
  • Lead employment law-related projects, including process reviews, new policy creation and implementation, and creation and delivery of training programs.
  • Assist in mergers and acquisitions and post-acquisition work.
  • Handle and/or provide support on employment-related pre-litigation and litigation matters with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to employment issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Advise key stakeholders concerning employment-related matters in new markets.
  • Provide legal support for Spotify’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
  • Help launch new regions.

Who you are

  • You have a law degree (or equivalent) from a top-tier law school.
  • You have a minimum of 8+ years experience from working at a top tier law firm and in-house with employment counseling. International experience is required.
  • You have experience in partnering with global stakeholders.
  • You have demonstrated experience interfacing with HR and business executives on significant employment matters.
  • You have a passion for legal problems; you can explain legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • You are a problem solver, and can stay calm when problems come your way.
  • You are self-motivated, analytic and can identify and handle the matters at hand without being instructed.
  • You like to take responsibility and encourage new challenges.
  • You can balance lots of simultaneous tasks and triage to make sure the right matters get your attention.
  • You’re willing to roll up your sleeves and dig in on projects.
  • You work well as part of a team — both with other lawyers and with non-legal stakeholders.
  • You are qualified to practice law as in-house counsel.

Where you will be

  • You will work out of the New York Office.
  • Our offices are currently closed due to COVID-19. 
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern time zone for collaboration.
