This role is based in our Washington D.C. office on an in-office basis. This role reports to the Business Director.
Position Summary
The Legal Support Specialist provides high-level practice and administrative support to attorneys in the Telecommunication group. The ideal candidate will exhibit professionalism, excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Flexibility to work overtime as needed is required.
Key Responsibilities
Create, edit, proofread, and process documents such as correspondence, memoranda, and other practice-specific materials.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of assigned attorneys’ practices and clients, including maintaining current calendars, meetings, client contacts, and matter lists.
Submit conflict checks, open new client matters, prepare engagement letters, and review or edit client billing invoices.
Coordinate domestic and international travel, accommodation, and entertainment arrangements for assigned attorneys.
Process and reconcile expense reports and vendor invoices promptly and accurately.
Maintain organized legal files, both paper and electronic.
Collaborate with Administrative Support Coordinators, Paralegals, and other legal support team members as needed.
Utilize firm resources effectively to achieve desired results.
Assist with overflow work and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies
Exceptional attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and effective time management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), with professional demeanor and presentation.
Ability to recognize and maintain confidential, sensitive, and proprietary information.
Capacity to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Proficient with computer applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.
Flexibility to work overtime as required to meet deadlines.
Education & Prior Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm or other professional organization is preferred.
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, regulatory agency procedures, or rules relevant to the telecommunications practice group (e.g., FCC regulations, state public utility commission procedures, spectrum licensing platforms) is a plus.
Technology
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems.
Experience with Intapp, iManage and DocuSign is a plus.
The expected pay range for this position is:
$36.66 to $42.48 per hour
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
