GSK is seeking an experienced Legal Manager to oversee all legal matters across our operations in Egypt, Morocco and Algeria (North Africa) markets. This role will provide strategic legal guidance, ensure compliance with local and international regulations, and support business objectives while mitigating legal risks. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in corporate and commercial, employment law, contracts, and pharmaceutical industry laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis and strategic legal advice to overall business and client management teams of Egypt, Morocco and Algeria.
  • Overall responsibility and accountability for all legal matters relating to the North Africa Cluster legal affairs, including both management of day-to-day work and building legal strategy for high-risk matters.
  • Provide analysis and legal advice on transactional, commercial and operational matters by integrating legal knowledge with sound business judgment.
  • Guide and advise the business to achieve their goals in compliance with laws and GSK policies.
  • Anticipate and proactively support the prevention and management of North Africa Cluster’s legal risks
  • Overall responsibility on launch excellence in North Africa Cluster, including Innovation agenda (launch and uptake of Vaccines, Oncology and Specialty portfolio)
  • Management of issues related to manufacturing sites (Egypt and Algeria), Contract manufacturing arrangements, R&D, manufacturing issues and business development deals in North Africa Cluster.
  • Draft, develop, prepare, negotiate, advise and execute multi-country or regional contracts such as Service Agreement, Lease Agreement, Medical Education Program Agreement, Distribution Agreement, License Agreement, Non - Disclosure Agreement, Novation Agreement, Warehousing and Transportation Agreement, Toll Manufacturing Agreement and Marketing Agreement and other legal documents.
  • Review and interpret new legislation or regulatory rules impacting the business to advise on strategic and proactive management of legal risks.
  • Develop and recommend policies and practices on issues presenting potential legal risk of the North Africa cluster in relation to innovative portfolio sales and marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Preparing the required documents that pertain to the board of directors and the shareholders meetings, annual corporate governance report and required disclosures for Egyptian Stock Exchange.
  • Ensure Corporate Governance for North Africa commercial operations related activities and provide active corporate secretarial support for the legal entities in 3 LOCs in the North Africa Cluster.
  • Educate client businesses on sound legal practices and new developments. Conduct training of new laws and refreshers on areas of legal risks and legal policies including Competition Law, Data Privacy, Write-Right principles. Drive Case Studies across North Africa.
  • Management of all litigation efforts in North Africa; Support internal and external investigation teams in the North Africa Cluster.
  • Meet with regulators and government bodies on issues touching upon GSK business in the North Africa Cluster. Representing 3 LOCs to external stakeholders, distributors, customers, suppliers, competitors and government agencies.
  • Matrix Working Communication and consultation with other functions (e.g. Compliance, HR, Medical, Audit and Assurance, Business Development, Finance, Procurement, etc.) to ensure coordination and alignment, as well as consideration of all aspects required to provide integrated and holistic legal advice.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB).
  • Master’s degree in Law, Corporate and commercial is a plus.  
  • Minimum 4 – 6 years  experience
  • Legal knowledge in pharmaceutical sector. Experience as an in-house lawyer supporting commercial business in a country is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in Competition Law, Pharmaceutical law (including medical and promotional codes and relevant company policies) and ABAC. 
  • Admission at the Egyptian Bar Association, or Moroccan Bar Association or Algerian Bar Association .
  • Languages: Fluency in English, Arabic and French.
