Our Legal Informatics Team

The Legal Informatics team at Gilbert + Tobin specialises in the application of technology to complex and time critical legal matters. Our work enables the handling of large volumes of electronic evidence in disputes and investigations, enabling efficient due diligence in high-profile deals and navigating bespoke datasets. Our expert application of market-leading technologies enables a scalable and secure approach to every legal matter, giving our clients a strategic advantage.

 

About the role

We are currently seeking a Legal Informatics Specialist to provide electronic discovery, document management, data room, data analytics and associated technical support to the lawyers and clients of the firm. Key responsibilities include:

  • Running and maintaining large scale document reviews in Relativity, including data imports, auditing, analytics and modelling, preparation of evidence and data exports;
  • Running eDiscovery processing workflows in Relativity, including data collection and transfers, preparing and manipulating data, processing and quality control;
  • Using the Relativity aiR suite and other AI-assisted review tools, including appropriate validation and quality assurance;
  • Contributing to the design, establishment and improvement of Legal Informatics best practice workflows for large scale document reviews and data rooms;
  • Supporting legal teams with the setup and administration of Harvey vaults and other technology-enabled legal workflows;
  • Attending Court/Commissions/Inquiries as required and providing technical support for legal teams;
  • Supporting virtual data rooms and deal rooms, including data preparation, administration and quality control.

This role is open to candidates based in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

 

About you

As our successful candidate you should be able to demonstrate a desire, and the capacity, to work on high profile and technically challenging discovery and regulatory matters. You should be motivated to perform at a high level, passionate about working at the cutting edge of legal technology and committed to contributing to the critical development of the firm’s internal Legal Informatics capabilities. In addition, you will have:

  • At least 4 years’ experience working on large scale and complex eDiscovery matters in Relativity
  • A strong understanding of the eDiscovery process and associated quality control requirements
  • An ability to independently run defined matters or workstreams in accordance with the standard EDRM model
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Familiarity with repository-based workflows and the management of large datasets
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

 

Other preferred skills and certifications include:

  • Holding a Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) qualification
  • Using and implementing Relativity Dynamic Objects
  • Experience using and managing Relativity Integration Points
  • Use of JIRA and Confluence for project management
  • Basic command-line and PowerShell interfacing
  • SQL scripting
  • Python scripting
  • Familiarity with Relativity application development, APIs or workflow automation
  • Ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet agreed deadlines.
