WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR 🌟We’re looking for a Legal Director to join our Finance team and lead Manychat’s global legal strategy and execution. You’ll be a hands-on business partner to leaders across the company and manage all legal matters related to corporate governance, commercial agreements, compliance, privacy, and risk. You’ll also directly manage a Barcelona-based Legal Counsel and lay the foundation for a high-performing, scalable legal team.
This role is about enabling the business to move fast without taking on unnecessary risk. You’ll help simplify legal processes, protect what matters, and partner across the company to make sure legal is always a strategic enabler — never a blocker.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in international, high-growth environments and is ready to have a lasting impact on the legal infrastructure of a global technology company.
WHAT YOU'LL DO 🚀- Design and oversee scalable contract workflows and templates (SaaS MSA, DPA, SLA, NDAs, partnership agreements), ensuring they require minimal legal intervention.
- Develop and implement internal legal processes, playbooks, and automation tools that empower teams to self-serve safely and efficiently.
- Provide high-leverage legal support for business and vendor deals with a focus on clarity, risk-awareness, and speed.
- Establish a legal culture of enablement: Legal as a strategic partner, not a gatekeeper.
- Build clear, simple processes and frameworks that reduce friction and bureaucracy across jurisdictions.
- Deliver legal training and partner with cross-functional teams to embed legal thinking into decision-making.
- Oversee legal operations in six+ countries, including entity setup, governance, labor law compliance, and local advisor management.
- Lead the development and maintenance of internal policies (e.g. privacy, ethics, anti-corruption, whistleblowing).
- Identify and manage legal risks across jurisdictions and partner with leadership on strategic risk planning.
- Maintain and improve corporate structure: shareholders, charters, board documents, resolutions.
- Lead corporate changes (e.g. director appointments, ownership updates, registered address changes).
- Manage power of attorney delegation and authority registers across countries.
- Lead legal workstreams for M&A and fundraising (due diligence, structuring, documentation, negotiation).
- Partner with Finance and executive stakeholders on strategic projects and investor conversations.
- Manage the global IP portfolio (trademarks, copyright, open-source usage).
- Implement scalable brand protection processes and monitor misuse risks.
- Oversee pre-litigation and litigation processes with external counsel.
- Handle commercial, employment, and regulatory claims in coordination with internal teams.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing legal team.
- Define the legal function’s roadmap and scale it sustainably as the business grows.
- Drive simplification, automation, and continuous improvement across the function.
You’ll need:
- Law degree with 8+ years in-house legal experience (preferably in tech or SaaS).
- Strong knowledge of corporate, contract, labor, and IT law.
- SaaS, IP, data protection, and open-source licensing knowledge.
- Proven track record in investment/M&A transactions.
- Experience supporting multinational operations.
- Strategic thinking with a pragmatic, business-first mindset.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to simplify complexity and decision-making.
- Clear communication, effective across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English; additional European language is a plus.
- Independence and proactivity in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
- Integrity and professionalism, with strong judgment and common sense.
- Trust-building ability and influence across diverse stakeholders.
- Adaptability, with comfort working in startup-like, cross-functional teams.
