We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Legal Counsel. This role will report to the General Counsel, Finance, Property and Corporate Governance.
A bit about your role
As Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice that supports nbn’s strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. You will work across a diverse portfolio in the Legal and Regulatory team, including treasury, corporate reporting, property, sustainability, governance and general corporate legal support, offering clarity and confidence in complex matters. Your role will involve managing legal issues, supporting negotiations, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver outcomes that balance commercial priorities with legal integrity.
You will be trusted to bring innovative thinking to problem-solving, offering practical and commercially focused advice that enables informed decision-making. By engaging proactively with teams across the business, you will help shape strategies that mitigate risk and strengthen compliance, all while contributing to nbn’s purpose of connecting Australia. This is a role where collaboration and adaptability are key, and where your expertise will make a tangible impact on the organisation’s success.
A bit about you
The successful candidate is a legal professional with at least 5 years post-qualification experience gained in a - corporate environment or a mid to top-tier law firm. You combine strong technical knowledge with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach, and you are confident navigating complex issues with precision.
You thrive in collaborative environments, building trusted relationships and engaging with stakeholders in a way that is inclusive and responsive. Your mindset is proactive and adaptable, and you are committed to raising standards and sharing knowledge within your team. With your clear communication and ability to balance commercial objectives with compliance, you will help nbn deliver on its purpose and long-term vision.
