More about the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in BA, Argentina. Reporting to the Head of Legal for Americas, the Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to both Signify Argentina and the South Latam region. The ideal candidate should have at least 4+ years of experience in a similar role, either in a law firm or in-house at a multinational company.
- Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including distribution and agents’ agreements, product supply and service agreements, strategic collaboration agreements, turnkey agreements, and procurement agreements.
- Legal Counseling: Provide legal counseling and commercial contracting advice on issues relating to our sales and marketing activities, customer agreements, private and government tenders, and distribution channels (distributors, agents, etc.).
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor the impact of new legislations in the business, advise and counsel business clients on a range of compliance and regulatory issues, including data privacy & product safety laws, public tenders laws, anti-corruption & anti-bribery laws, antitrust law, export controls and others.
- Marketing and Advertising Review: Review marketing and advertising materials to ensure compliance with legal & regulatory standards.
- Claims and Litigation Management: Assist with claims and litigation management, including managing outside counsel, directing the scope of activities.
- Training: Provide Legal and Compliance trainings to employees.
- Additional Projects: Perform other non-lighting projects as required as part of the Signify Legal Function (e.g., legal tech & AI, and other digitalization, automation & simplification activities).
- Direct support to other countries: support all legal and commercial activities in other countries of South America region in coordination with team members and external counsel support.

- Education: Law Degree from an accredited law school
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house at a multinational company.
- Fluency in English.
- Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Argentina.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and drafting various types of commercial agreements such as sales and procurement agreements, distributor and agent agreements, reseller agreements and SaaS agreements.
- Ability to recognize legal and ethical risks and communicate effectively with business partners regarding the same.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and work independently with colleagues in multiple locations.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to resolve legal issues in a manner that allows the business to move forward on the basis of informed, reasonable and controlled risk-taking.
- Demonstrated maturity, communication skills, influencing skills, judgment, and functional expertise when solving legal issues and dealing with both internal and external clients.
- Ability to be a team player with Legal colleagues and a business partner to the commercial organization.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in all interactions with senior management, corporate functions, and all levels of personnel.
- Familiarity on generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools and with AI applications in legal operations.
- Developed business acumen, with the ability to learn from the lighting sector’s business.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Act with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
