We are looking for someone who:
- Has a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited law school;
- Has an active bar membership in good standing;
- Has at least 3-5 years of legal experience;
- Has experience in negotiating, drafting, and interpreting commercial agreements;
- Demonstrates the ability to manage a range of legal matters;
- Previous experience in consumer protection, data privacy, anti-money laundering (AML), gambling, and administrative law will be considered an advantage;
- Has a good understanding of how legal terms translate to business impact;
What you'll be doing:
- Provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice to the employer and other members of staff on a variety of legal topics that relate to the business sector and the business operations in Brazil;
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements with regard to the Group’s entities in Brazil;
- Handling/ managing contractual disputes;
- Advising on compliance and regulatory matters;
- Managing and mitigating legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures;
- Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business; promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practices throughout the organization;
- Communicating with and managing any third-party bodies such as external counsel or auditors;
- Staying up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the local business and specific industry;
- Overviewing, maintaining, reconstituting and keeping the companies’ files up to date and in a state of completion at all times;
- Liaising with local authorities in Brazil;
- Providing support in various KYC and Due Diligence processes concerning the Group’s companies in Brazil;
- Liaising with senior members of staff and other relevant departments.
