Main Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel to business teams, leading the structuring of partnerships with local and international players by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Collaborate closely with the Brazil and U.S. LCAP colleagues to assess risks and develop independent, sophisticated solutions for business projects in Brazil, Mexico and other targeted LATAM countries.
- Support our efforts to obtain the necessary licenses for its licensed entities in Brazil (SCD and payment institution) and oversee regulatory compliance for ongoing operations.
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts for payments and financial services.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with both local and international stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and alignment across regions.
- Take a proactive role in broader LATAM and Americas region legal initiatives, including coordinating with external counsel and managing cross-border regulatory matters.
- Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments in the financial services sector, with a focus on Brazil, Mexico and LATAM, and contribute to our institutional regulatory knowledge base.
- At least 6 years of experience as a qualified attorney in Brazil working in a reputable law firm and/or in-house company, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of Brazilian financial services regulations, with eagerness to expand expertise into Mexican and certain other LATAM regional regulations.
- Proven experience in structuring complex partnerships and negotiating commercial contracts with local and international partners.
- Business development mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively convey legal advice across diverse teams and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, and inspire confidence in stakeholders.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English is required. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Chinese is a plus.
