Job DescriptionThe HQ Legal Counsel provides end-to-end (“360”) daily legal support for HQ / regalian topics and selected global or cross-franchise initiatives. The role ensures consistent application of HQ governance, risk standards, and scalable legal practices across the organization.
Unlike dedicated Creative House (CH) Legal Counsels—who handle the day-to-day legal workload for a specific franchise/studio—HQ Legal Counsel focus on central topics (e.g., privacy, player/consumer compliance, regulatory programs, governance frameworks) and strategic workstreams that do not belong to a single CH.
HQ Legal Counsel may also provide case-by-case overflow support to CH teams during peak periods or exceptional situations.
This position combines breadth, leverage, and governance discipline.
Key Responsibilities
360 Daily Legal Support for HQ / Regalian Topics
- Serve as the primary legal partner for assigned HQ domains (e.g., privacy, player/consumer compliance, global governance programs, regulatory workstreams)
- Provide day-to-day legal advice and execution: intake → analysis → drafting/negotiation → approvals → documentation
- Ensure consistent interpretation and application of HQ policies, standards, and risk appetite
Global & Cross-Franchise Projects
- Lead or support initiatives that cut across franchises/regions or do not sit under a single CH
- Coordinate multi-stakeholder and multi-jurisdiction input
Governance & Risk Management
- Identify, document, and escalate high-risk, sensitive, or precedent-setting matters
- Support risk mapping and governance reporting for HQ topics
Case-by-Case Support to Creative Houses (Overflow)
- Provide overflow support when CH workloads exceed capacity or during coverage gaps
Relevant experience
- Strong background in commercial contracting, governance, and risk-based counseling (in-house preferred)
- Experience in privacy, regulatory/compliance, consumer/player topics, or adjacent domains is strongly valued
- Ability to operate at strategic level while remaining hands-on and delivery-oriented
Skills and knowledge
- Business-first legal judgment (pragmatic, risk-based, solutions-driven)
- Strong prioritization and portfolio management
- Clear communication and influence with senior stakeholders
- Operational rigor (process discipline, documentation, follow-through)
- Collaborative approach with CH counsels and HQ specialists; confident escalation when needed
