As Legal Counsel you will be focused on forward-looking and strategic support of management to ensure realisation of Nokia’s business objectives on the Vietnamese accounts and elsewhere in APJ&I, and serve as an advisor as well as a gatekeeper for the relevant business and support functions to ensure all customer transactions meet Nokia’s commercial, legal, and regulatory standards.

The Customer Transactions team will be a trusted advisor to the business - bringing strong deal expertise that enables sustainable growth in the APJ&I region. The team works closely with the business to ensure a clear understanding of contractual frameworks, identify commercial and legal risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies. 

Success in this role requires building strong relationships across Nokia’s internal stakeholders as well as with key external partners and customers.  You will strike a good balance between individual and team contributions and be able to work with solid analysis and sound judgment under minimum supervision.
 

Responsibilities
  • Drive effective legal support on deals and business opportunities including drafting, deal structuring and negotiating contracts with customers and relevant third parties; providing input into contract risk assessment processes; attending contract approval and validation meetings in accordance with Nokia process; cooperating closely with the bid team, sales teams, business group, contract management team and other business stakeholders on deals.
  • Assist in evaluations and conducting thorough due diligence for all deals and transactions and effectively develop and implement appropriate risk-mitigation strategies in relation to Nokia's business operations.
  • Understand internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes and services in close coordination with other relevant L&C and business functions.
  • Work closely with the Regional Legal Team in APJ&I, provide measurable output in the form of recommendations, training, other type of advice to the business deriving from new laws, regulations, customer contracts, supplier’s work, as required.
  • Solve complex problems based on sophisticated analytical thought and complex judgment with in-depth organizational and relevant market knowledge.
  • Display a performance and results driven mindset with a strong focus on quality, customer impact, and continuous improvement.
     
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience as a legal counsel within multinational companies or a recognized law firm.  
  • Business level English language ability, capable to draft and comment in English.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer contracting and the customer dynamics, market trends, and competitor dynamics.
  • Experience in drafting commercial contracts and managing negotiations with customers
  • Able to provide practical solutions and pre-empt blocking issues or hurdles to deadlines, and effective stakeholder management.
  • A strong drive to carry matters through to a successful completion with internal clients and stakeholders and who is a true team-player who likes to share knowledge and has a willingness to learn.
  • A strong knowledge of the relevant legal framework mixed with excellent legal interpretation skills and exercise of judgment.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to propose, challenge and discuss ideas, analysis or other topics. The candidate should be able to interact professionally with all levels of the organization forming effective networks to ensure seamless communication both within legal and with colleagues in the business.
  • Ability to use nonstandard approaches to resolve issues, thinking “out of the box”; suggest improvements and seek opportunities for innovation; and demonstrate initiative & adaptability to ever changing legal and business environments.

 It would be nice if you also had: 

  • Deep understanding of mobile networks, cloud and network services, network infrastructure, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience in working on contracts with a variety of Vietnamese customers 
  • Experience in working on contracts across multiple jurisdictions.
