What you’ll do:

As an associate level transactional Legal Counsel you will contribute to Mintos Legal Team on a broad spectrum of cross-border legal matters for cooperation with lending and other companies that Mintos works with to offer investments on its platform.
You will:

• Be responsible for legal due diligence of new jurisdictions where from partners come or changes in current jurisdictions;

• Provide legal advice, including on deal structuring. Present the legal position to internal decision makers;

• Negotiate LMA style contracts. Draft, review, and negotiate transactional documents, during the lifecycle of cooperation with the partner. Work entails drafting parts of the base prospectuses for issuance of asset-backed securities;

• Identify and communicate potential legal and other transactional risks in an understandable manner for non-lawyers and develop solutions and illustrate their pros and cons for decision makers;

• Define tasks for external legal counsel, coordinate their work, negotiate fee arrangements;

• Participate in development of new standard contract forms and update of the existing legal templates;

• Assist from a legal perspective with different ad hoc situations regarding cooperation with partners.

Your professional skills and background:

Must-haves:

• Law degree from a reputable university. Masters degree in law or LLM will be considered as an advantage;

• 2 to 5 years post university work experience with a proven sound track record working in reputable law firm, preferably in financial services practice, or legal function of an investment firm, bank or other regulated financial institution in the EU;

• Sound contract drafting skills;

• Very good legal Latvian and English, including hands-on experience in legal writing;

• Attention to detail and eye for accuracy;

• Ability to think commercially in relation to legal issues and provide solutions;

• Ability to prioritise own work and to work on own initiative;

• Reliable and flexible with a professional and helpful attitude;

• Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build consensus and work with partners from different backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal manner, including tact and diplomacy;

• Proven ability building trusting working relationships while maintaining independence.

Nice-to-haves:

• Good understanding and knowledge of investment services and investment products and structuring of financing transactions will be a plus;

• Other language skills would be an added bonus.
