The Legal Counsel, NA Operations will be a member of the Law Department at the Global Headquarters for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, serving as a thought leader and partner to the NA Operations team. The ideal candidate is business-savvy and client-service oriented, takes initiative in creating and improving legal processes, and excels at delivering high-quality, actionable, and timely legal advice in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as risk advisor and trusted partner to Operations on a wide range of legal issues impacting the organization and its business objectives
- Structure, draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts of various size, complexity, and scope for clients in North America, including supply agreements, MSAs, SOWs, supply chain agreements, transportation agreements, and commercial real estate contracts including purchase and sale agreements and leases
- Provide day-to-day legal counsel to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Real Estate, and Business Continuity teams and assist EHS expert counsel across North America
- Drive contract lifecycle management, template creation, and the development of contracting standards applicable to the organization to achieve organization-wide consistency
- Assist clients with strategic projects relating to plant or warehouse expansions, joint ventures, business continuity, plant optimization, government incentives, acquisitions, and divestitures
- Support NA real estate purchases or sales from term sheet through closing, coordinating with clients, brokers, outside counsel and opposing counsel
- Develop and deliver training to clients on various legal topics and policies
- Support clients in connection with contract disputes and settlement discussions
- Counsel and advise clients on applicable laws and regulations, evaluate and mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with Company policy
- Assist and coordinate with outside counsel, other attorneys in the Goodyear Law Department, and other functional experts across North Americas as needed
Key Experience
- A Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and a member of the bar (not state specific)
- The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of general business law experience at a major law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department, including commercial and/or real estate law, and wide-ranging contract experience
