Chief Legal Counsel (m/f/d)

About the Job

We’re looking for an experienced Chief Legal Counsel (m/f/d) to join our client and lead its Legal strategies. 

In your day-to-day work, you’ll focus on streamlining the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, managing external counsel relationships and legal budgets, and supporting founders and executive teams on strategic legal matters.

Join our client company: A German dual-use technology company that develops unmanned ground vehicles to spearhead automation in both governmental and civilian use cases.

In this role, you’ll:

• Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial contracts
• Manage external counsel relationships and oversee legal budgets
• Support founders and executive teams on strategic legal matters
• Advise on M&A, venture capital, and financing transactions
• Ensure compliance with data protection (GDPR) and IP/IT legal frameworks
• Facilitate adherence to compliance frameworks in regulated industries like defence and mobility
• Mitigate risks and provide sound legal judgment in dynamic, high-stakes situations
• Collaborate with internal teams to drive legal strategy and risk management initiatives

Your Profile

• Qualified lawyer in Germany (Zulassung als Rechtsanwalt) with several years of in-house legal leadership experience at tech-driven scale-ups or corporates
• Deep understanding of corporate, commercial, and contract law with solid experience in M&A, venture capital, and financing rounds
• Strong command of data protection (GDPR) and IP/IT law
• Demonstrated familiarity with compliance frameworks in regulated industries such as defence or mobility
• Previous experience at a top-tier law firm or high-growth company is preferred
• Business-oriented legal thinker with a hands-on mentality, comfortable in dynamic, international startup environments
• Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)

Please note that we are looking for support in the Munich office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
