Join our Equifax Legal Team and make a difference with the work you do! The Legal Counsel, Litigation will be on the front lines ensuring that the Equifax is adequately protected in response to legal matters. The Counsel will staff a caseload of Fair Credit Reporting Act lawsuits in various courts (including federal, state, and small claims) against Equifax. Reporting to the Senior Litigation Counsel, you will work with the Equifax Legal Team in our headquarters in Midtown Atlanta.
What you’ll do
Partner with the business as an advisor on potential risk to prevent litigation activities and staying abreast of regulatory and compliance changes
Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Work independently, with paralegal support, to represent Equifax in the lawsuits as assigned.
Review complaint allegations, determine a strategy for responding, prepare answers and motions as necessary
Work with outside counsel providing internal information and preparations for depositions
Represent Equifax in discovery and trial as necessary
Negotiate settlements where appropriate
Manage a high-volume litigation docket
Accountability for all lawsuits filed against EFX in the United States, as well as various pre-litigation matters and other legal counsel as necessary
Travel up to 25% of the time
What experience you need
5+ years of current experience in working in litigation as a practicing attorney with a corporation and/or firm
Strong knowledge of FCRA
Proactive approach to litigation prevention
Bachelor’s Degree
Juris Doctor
