Join the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.

The Work

At IQM, we’re building the technology needed to bring quantum computing into the real world. As Legal Counsel (Commercial), you’ll support that growth by working closely with Sales, Product, IP, Technology and Security on the legal side of commercial activities.

You’ll help structure, review and negotiate agreements covering on-prem and cloud offerings, research collaborations and strategic partnerships, while advising on relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Working across IQM’s global organization, you’ll turn complex legal questions into clear, practical solutions that help our teams move forward.

What you’ll actually do
  • Draft, review, negotiate and develop a wide range of commercial agreements, ensuring they are legally sound, commercially practical and aligned with IQM’s risk appetite.

  • Partner with Sales and business teams throughout negotiations, providing legal guidance and helping stakeholders understand the legal considerations behind different deal structures and terms.

  • Advise on regulations relevant to commercial agreements, including public procurement, export control and competition law.

  • Work closely with Product, IP, Technology and Security teams to ensure agreements properly reflect IQM’s technology, products, services and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and improve contract templates, processes and practices to create consistency and make the Legal team more efficient.

  • Engage with prospects, customers and partners when needed to explain legal considerations and support constructive negotiations.

  • Manage multiple projects and stakeholders across IQM’s global organization, taking ownership of your workstreams from initial discussion through to completion.

  • Build a strong understanding of IQM’s technology, products and industry so that your legal advice becomes increasingly practical, contextual and business-focused.

What we’re looking for
  • 3-5 years of relevant legal experience, either in-house working closely with a Sales or commercial team, or in a technology or M&A team at a law firm.

  • A Master’s degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent).

  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.

  • Excellent Finnish and English, with the ability to communicate legal advice clearly and simply to different audiences.

  • Experience working with commercial stakeholders and understanding the balance between legal risk and commercial objectives.

  • Strong drafting skills, attention to detail and the ability to understand the wider context behind an agreement.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders independently and proactively.

  • Genuine curiosity about technology, products and the quantum computing industry, and the motivation to understand how the technology works and where it is going.

  • A rational and structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to break down complex issues and find practical solutions.

  • A collaborative and customer-oriented mindset. You understand that the best legal outcomes come from working closely with the people involved.

Nice to have
  • Experience working in-house at a publicly listed company or advising public companies.

  • Experience working in an international technology, deep-tech or fast-growing company, particularly in a role requiring coordination across multiple countries and stakeholders.

Why IQM?
  • Full-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.

  • High-performance playground: We aim high, and we know sustainable performance only works when life outside work does too—hybrid setups, flexible hours.

  • Never the smartest: You won’t always be the smartest person in the room. Neither will we. Expect to learn constantly - from each other and beyond with IQM’s Learning Hub, LinkedIn Learning, and a team-based L&D budget.

  • Approachable leadership: Flat hierarchy, direct access. Feel free to approach any leaders. They're friendlier than they look!

  • The sweet spot: Big enough to matter. Small enough to move fast. Growing between a startup and a corporation. We’re in the phase where top performers get noticed.

  • Bigger than IQM: Our people build know-how for the entire quantum ecosystem. We publish papers, run hackathons, and help shape a market that's still being defined.

The future of computing won’t build itself. You might be one of the few who do.
