Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Legal Associate to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to support a high-growth AI company with a strong international presence and blue-chip clients.
The ideal candidate will have:
3-5 years of experience in an international law firm or in an equivalent role
Experience working for or advising startups is valued
Excellent commercial contracting skills and strong commercial acumen.
Fluency in English (required), paired with native-level proficiency in at least one Asian language (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, etc.) or Arabic.
A good working knowledge of Hong Kong companies law is essential.
Familiarity with US and Cayman corporate law is also desirable.
The role will be based out of our Hong Kong office and work closely with the CEO, Board and CRO
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal support for Bilby’s operations across the Middle East, ASEAN, Hong Kong, and the Americas, with a focus on contracts, compliance, governance, and IP protection.
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including licensing deals, vendor contracts, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
Advise on regional regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with local laws in diverse jurisdictions.
Collaborate with internal teams to safeguard and manage Bilby’s IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
Liaise with external counsel, company secretary, auditors, shareholders and other stakeholders in multiple regions as needed.
Report to the board on any legal risk, reporting or regulatory obligations.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, or equivalent setting.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) and native-level proficiency in at least one Asian language (e.g., Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.) or Arabic.
Strong understanding of contract law, IP law, and international business regulations; experience in technology or AI sectors is a plus.
Exceptional drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
Willingness to travel occasionally to Bilby’s regional offices or other locations as required.
Proactive, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced, innovative startup environment.
